Youth leadership concerns play out

Covington’s Arts in Action Youth Leadership Councils from seven schools are performing and displaying their art on Wed., March 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Holmes High School auditorium. This show case event highlights the students’ community concerns through various art forms.

Some of the councils are performing skits and others are displaying art centered on a community issue, which was identified during individual council meetings. Parents, staff, students and members of the community are invited and encouraged to come show support for our youth and their desire to help the community. Refreshments available.

The following school youth councils are participating:
• John G. Carlisle Elementary School- a play about littering
• 9th District Elementary School- exhibit of stepping stones and pictures of the outdoor classroom
• 6th District Elementary School- a play about safety
• Latonia Elementary School- display of two murals about green space and litter
• Two Rivers Middle School- a performance and display about green space
• Holmes Jr. High- playing a commercial about blight in Covington
• Thomas Edison- a recycling theme

Murals were done under the guidance of Peter D. Jaquish
